Lychnos Chat is a Spirit-led Bible companion built as a free digital ministry tool. This policy explains how we handle your information honestly and transparently.

1. Who We Are

2. What Data We Collect

Lychnos Chat collects the minimum data necessary to provide a personalised experience:

• Your first name (if you choose to set up a profile)
• Your age range (not your exact date of birth stored on our servers)
• Your employment or life status (student, employee, etc.) if provided
• Your preferred language and Bible version
• Daily message usage count (stored locally on your device only)

Profile data is stored locally on your device using browser storage. We do not store your conversation history on our servers.

3. What We Do Not Collect

• We do not collect your exact date of birth on our servers
• We do not store your conversations or messages
• We do not collect your location
• We do not use advertising or tracking technologies
• We do not sell your data to third parties
• We do not share your data with anyone

4. Third Party Services

Lychnos Chat uses the following third party services to function:

• Anthropic Claude API — processes your messages to generate responses. Messages are sent to Anthropic's servers to generate replies. Anthropic's privacy policy applies: anthropic.com/privacy
• API.Bible — used to fetch accurate Bible verse text. Verse references are sent to API.Bible's servers. Their privacy policy applies: api.bible/privacy
• Vercel — hosts this application. Standard server logs may be collected by Vercel: vercel.com/legal/privacy-policy

5. Children's Privacy

Lychnos Chat is designed to be safe for all ages. The children's section (Lychnos Kidz Hub) is currently under development and not yet publicly available. When launched, it will require verified parental consent before any child profile is created, in compliance with the UK Children's Code (Age Appropriate Design Code) and COPPA.

We do not knowingly collect personal data from children without parental consent.

6. Your Rights Under UK GDPR

You have the right to:

• Access the data we hold about you
• Request deletion of your data
• Withdraw consent at any time
• Lodge a complaint with the ICO at ico.org.uk

Since most data is stored locally on your device, you can delete your profile at any time by clearing your browser storage, or by using the profile settings within the app.

7. Data Security

All communication between your device and Lychnos Chat is encrypted via HTTPS. We do not store sensitive personal information on our servers.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy as the app develops. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated date. We will never reduce your rights without clear notice.
